Located in Pella, Iowa, Vermeer makes equipment for agriculture, fluid management, tree care, and utility installation, just to name a few.
Vermeer elected to follow a phased approach for the Configure One CPQ implementation, with the first phase consisting of more than 200 configurable products. Vermeer’s order desk team uses Configure One CPQ to quickly and accurately create full-featured quotes/orders for their dealers. Configure One CPQ is integrated with Vermeer’s Glovia business system, and quotes that are won are instantly converted to orders in Glovia, alleviating the need for manual intervention or double entry, saving yet more time in the quote-to-order process while ensuring accuracy.
Even at this early stage of implementation, Vermeer is excited by the higher efficiency they are achieving within their sales and order processes. According to Configuration Program Manager, Nisha Suresh, “the biggest time efficiency now is in creating a quote with multiple line items and then, when the quote is converted to an order, transforming those multiple line items into individual orders. This is but one aspect of the process that adds to overall efficiency.”
Efficiency isn’t just about cutting down on the time spent taking and processing orders. The efficiency that Suresh describes as a “big win” is that “the new configurator with all the product rules is preventing wrong configurations from being ordered eliminating a lot of manual work and effort.”
While Vermeer personnel were heavily involved in the first phase of the project, they relied on Configure One professional services to keep the project moving in the right direction. Suresh adds, “We have had an incredible experience so far. Dan and his team have been available throughout the project for questions, discussions, best practices all the way to 24/7 prelaunch support over a weekend with troubleshooting and fixing last minute set up issues that we had on our side.”
